Routine for the hours of the day

Las horas del día también tienen cualidades vata, pitta y kapha

The hours of the day also have Vata, Pitta, and Kapha qualities.

"For everything, there is a time," is a well-known phrase. In the last hundred years, we do not listen to nature since we do not depend on daylight to do our activities, as in ancient times.

Our ancestors woke up when the sun came up and fell asleep when the sun went down.

Did you know that there are more favorable hours for certain activities than others?

According to Ayurveda, everything in nature is Vata, Pitta, or Kapha; food, people, times of day, and seasons of the year. What does this mean? That everything has the characteristics of the doshas. For example, cheese is sticky, heavy, cold, greasy, dense, soft, and mushy these are characteristics of Kapha.

The chili is hot, pungent, and light; these are some of the main characteristics of pitta; Box cereal is dry, light, cold, and coarse; it has most of the features of Vata.

For now, let's focus on the hours of the day. In this way, we can choose the most appropriate activities and meals for each hour of the day.

From 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. it is Kapha time.

If you get up after 6:00 in the morning, you will feel tired, without energy, and possibly depressed. Since you were motionless (inert) at Kapha time of the day, Kapha accumulated more in your body from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. It is better to exercise in the morning to counteract the effects of Kapha as it is heavy and static. Try to get up at least 15 minutes before 6:00 in the morning; you will notice that you will have more energy.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. it is Pitta time.

It would be best to avoid direct exposure to the sun from t12:00 to 2:00. Around noon is when your digestive system is most potent; if you want to eat something heavy, this is the best time to do it; You should eat your main meal at noon. During these pitta hours, your intelligence and productivity are higher.

From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., it is Vata time.

It is the time when you are most creative, most active, and most alert, but also, if you have a Vata imbalance or your constitution is Vata, you may feel a bit agitated, fearful, and anxious. From 2:00 p.m. to 4:00, you will be very active. From 4:00 to 6:00, your energy will be decline. Try not to eat at this time; a light snack or tea is fine. It is better that you do not listen to loud music or expose yourself to very bright lights since Vata is the most sensitive dosha and can quickly get out of balance. Remember, these are the best hours for your creativity to flourish.

From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. it's kapha time again

Having a light dinner around 6 or 7 p.m. gives the body time to digest the food. Do activities that relax you, so you start preparing to sleep around 8:00 p.m. you may massage your feet and skull with oil according to your dosha; warm water bath, converse lightly with your loved ones, meditate, pray. Avoid discussions, violent programs, and news; It's even better to turn off the computer and television at 9 p.m. Catching the ten o'clock train of dreams will ensure you sleep soundly. Since the heaviness and inertia of Kapha will help your sleep, therefore try to go to bed shortly before 10:00 p.m.

From 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. it is Pitta time.

I don't know if it has ever happened to you that you wake up between 12 a.m. and 2 a.m. with a lot of heat; the fire of pitta is predominating at this time. You must be asleep at this time since pitta is very productive and works at this time to detoxify your body. If you stay awake, you do not allow the body to detox. Therefore you will wake up tired no matter how many hours you sleep. You can say, "I fell asleep at midnight and got up at 10 in the morning; I slept more than 10 hours more than the recommended 8". It does not matter if you sleep more hours. If the body is not available to detox between 10:00 p.m. and 12:00 p.m., you will not recover those hour by sleeping more hours. You will feel more rested if you sleep between 10:00 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. than from 12 p.m. to 10 a.m.

From 2 p.m. to 6 a.m., it is Vata time.

At this time, your sleep is lighter, and you may wake up very easily, as Vata is light. This time is when the peristaltic movements of the colon are strongest, and that is why it is easier to evacuate since Vata is the dosha of movement and is in charge of functions like this.

If you can get up early, it is the best time to repeat affirmations, pray and meditate.

Following the rhythms of nature, you help your body to be balanced and in harmony.
